Overview
Chat Explorer is designed to view and explore WhatsApp exports using local imports. The core browsing, import, search, and archive features are designed to work on your device.
Data Collection and Usage
What is Collected: Chat Explorer does not require an account or a Chat Explorer server upload to import, browse, or search your archive. Core parsing, media rendering, and search are designed around local files on your device.
Chat Logs and Media: When you import a chat archive (such as a WhatsApp .zip file), Chat Explorer processes the content locally to provide a searchable and interactive timeline. No Chat Explorer server upload is required to open and explore those logs and associated media.
Data Retention and Transfer
Local Storage: All imported chat data and app settings are stored locally on your device. You have full control over this data and can delete it at any time by removing the imported chats within the app or by deleting the app itself.
Third-Party Services: Core browsing, import, search, and archive features are designed to work locally. Optional advanced features are labeled separately when they depend on system services.
