Summary

Chat Explorer processes imported chat exports locally on your device.

Chat Explorer does not require an account.

Chat Explorer does not operate a Chat Explorer server for importing, reading, searching, or analyzing your chats.

Chat Explorer does not collect, upload, sell, or share your imported chat logs, messages, attachments, media, contact names, phone numbers, or archive contents.

Your imported chat data remains on your device unless you choose to export it, share it, sync it through a system service, or include it in a support request.

Data You Import Into Chat Explorer

Chat Explorer lets you import chat export files, such as WhatsApp chat exports.

Imported data may include:

  • Message text
  • Sender names
  • Timestamps
  • Chat titles
  • Contact names or phone numbers included in the exported file
  • Attachments or media references included in the export
  • Metadata contained inside the exported chat file

This data is processed locally on your device so the app can display, search, organize, and analyze your chat history.

Chat Explorer does not upload this imported chat data to Chat Explorer servers.

Data Chat Explorer Does Not Collect

Chat Explorer does not collect:

  • Imported chat logs
  • Message contents
  • Attachments or media from imported chats
  • Contact names from imported chats
  • Phone numbers from imported chats
  • Chat participants
  • Search queries inside imported chats
  • Generated local summaries or local analytics
  • Your imported archive files

This means Chat Explorer does not receive or store a copy of your imported chat history.

Local Processing

Chat Explorer performs its core functionality on device.

This includes:

  • Importing chat exports
  • Parsing messages
  • Displaying conversations
  • Searching imported chats
  • Generating local statistics
  • Creating local visualizations and summaries

Data processed only on your device is not transmitted to Chat Explorer.

Local Storage

When you import a chat export, Chat Explorer may store a local copy or local processed representation of that data on your device.

This storage is used to make the app work, including reopening imported chats, showing analytics, and avoiding repeated imports.

Local app data may include:

  • Imported chat records
  • Parsed message data
  • App settings
  • Import history
  • Generated local analytics
  • Locally cached media references or thumbnails, when applicable

This data is stored on your device using Apple platform storage mechanisms.

Deleting Your Data

You can delete imported chats from inside Chat Explorer when the app provides a delete option.

You can also delete Chat Explorer from your device to remove the app and its local app data from that device.

If your device uses iCloud Backup, device backup, Time Machine, or another system-level backup service, copies of app data may remain in those backups according to your Apple or backup settings.

Chat Explorer does not control Apple system backups or user-managed backups.

iCloud and Device Sync

Chat Explorer is designed to work locally.

If Chat Explorer offers iCloud sync, or if Apple system services back up or sync app data, that data is handled by Apple according to Apple’s privacy practices and your Apple account settings.

Chat Explorer does not use its own server to sync your imported chat contents.

You can manage iCloud, backup, and device sync settings in Apple system settings.

Purchases and Subscriptions

Chat Explorer may use Apple StoreKit and third-party services like RevenueCat to process, manage, and validate purchases, subscriptions, trials, or one-time unlocks.

Payment transactions are handled securely by Apple. Chat Explorer and RevenueCat do not receive your payment card number or billing details.

We use RevenueCat to track and verify your subscription status and manage entitlements. To do this, a pseudonymous user identifier (App User ID) and purchase receipts/transaction history are processed by RevenueCat on our behalf. This information is used solely to unlock and manage paid features within the app.

Apple Diagnostics and App Analytics

Apple may provide developers with crash reports, diagnostics, performance information, or App Analytics when users have agreed to share that information with Apple and developers.

These reports are provided by Apple and are used to improve app stability, performance, and quality.

Chat Explorer does not use this information to identify the contents of your imported chats.

Crash reports should not include your imported chat history, but you should avoid manually including private chat content in any report or support message.

Support Requests

If you contact Chat Explorer for support, you may choose to provide information such as:

  • Your email address
  • Your message
  • Screenshots
  • Diagnostic details
  • Example files or excerpts you choose to send

Support information is used only to respond to your request, troubleshoot issues, improve the app, and maintain support records.

Do not send private chat exports, private messages, or sensitive personal information in support requests unless you intentionally choose to do so.

If you send chat content or files to support, that information will be treated as confidential support material and used only for the support purpose for which you provided it.

Optional Features That May Use Apple System Services

Some optional features may rely on Apple-provided system services.

These may include, depending on the features available in your version of the app:

  • StoreKit for purchases
  • iCloud or device backup, if enabled by you or by system settings
  • Apple diagnostics and crash reporting, if enabled by you
  • Apple system intelligence or language features, if explicitly used by the app and made available by Apple

When an optional feature depends on a system service, the data handling may also be governed by Apple’s terms, privacy settings, and system-level controls.

Chat Explorer does not use these optional services to operate a Chat Explorer-owned server copy of your imported chat history.

Third-Party Services

We work with select third-party service providers to support app operations:

  • RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to manage and validate in-app purchases and subscription statuses. RevenueCat processes transactional information and a pseudonymous identifier. You can review their privacy practices in the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

Chat Explorer does not use third-party advertising trackers.

Chat Explorer does not sell your data.

Chat Explorer does not share your imported chat history with data brokers.

Chat Explorer does not use your imported chat history for third-party advertising.

Tracking

Chat Explorer does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies for advertising or advertising measurement.

Chat Explorer does not use your imported chat data to create advertising profiles.

Children’s Privacy

Chat Explorer is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children.

Because Chat Explorer does not operate an account system or collect imported chat contents, Chat Explorer does not knowingly collect personal information from children through its own servers.

Parents or guardians should supervise the import and handling of private chat exports on shared devices.

Data Retention

Imported chat data remains on your device until you delete it from the app, delete the app, or remove it through Apple system storage controls.

Support requests may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to the request, maintain records, improve the app, and comply with legal obligations.

Purchase status information is handled through Apple and may remain available through Apple systems for purchase restoration and account management.

International Data Transfers

Chat Explorer does not transfer imported chat contents to Chat Explorer servers.

If you contact support, the information you provide may be processed using email, hosting, or support infrastructure that may operate in different countries.

If Apple services are used, Apple may process data according to Apple’s own privacy practices and infrastructure.

Security

Chat Explorer is designed to minimize data exposure by keeping imported chat data on device.

No method of electronic storage is completely secure.

You are responsible for protecting access to your device, backups, exported files, and any chat files you choose to import, export, copy, or share.

Use device passcodes, Face ID, Touch ID, and Apple account security features where available.

Your Choices

You can choose not to import a chat export.

You can delete imported chats from the app when deletion is available.

You can delete the app from your device.

You can manage iCloud, backup, analytics, and diagnostic sharing in Apple system settings.

You can choose what information to include when contacting support.
